This position is non-exempt for purposes of federal and state wage and hour laws.  Employees will be paid at a rate of 1.5 times the regular rate of pay for all hours worked in excess of forty in a given workweek.

Compensation: As a full-time, hourly employee, the Support Technician will receive compensation at an hourly wage equivalent experience.

Reports To: Support and Services Team Lead



The technical support technician is a staff position within the IT support group accountable for ensuring continuity of computer system services for computer users by providing the technical expertise, assistance, and project coordination necessary to install computer software products, modify/repair hardware and resolve technical problems.

Essential Functions

  1. Assure continuity of the computer system for all system users.
  2. Research software products and applicability to organizational environment.
  3. Install selected software and hardware products.
  4. Repair hardware as necessary and work closely with service vendors to ensure continuity of service.
  5. Stay abreast of the latest developments in MIS technology.
  6. Be “on-call” for all periods as assigned by the manager.
  7. Provide technical assistance and advice to users as needed.
  8. Recommend changes in software and hardware to improve computer capabilities.
  9. Assist in implementing practices that will more effectively utilize MIS resources.
  10. Accurate reporting of time in the organizations ticketing system.
  11. Maintain accurate client documentation

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Customer site visits are required to install, update, or repair equipment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. The hours of work are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.


Customer site visits are required to install, update or repair equipment.


Required Education and Experience:

  1. Associate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or A+ Certification or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. CompTIA A+
  2. CompTIA Net+
  3. Microsoft Entry Level certification
